Believing Hurts
To believe is to be vulnerable
To give yourself hope
To let your mind dream again
Believing achieves beauty
But beauty is never simple
There are time when the familiar weight of dead hope is easier to log around than to set free
Times when the cool of the chains feels more comforting than the nakedness of freedom
To believe is to live
To have hope
But
At the starting line of belief, fear’s grip seems to tighten
“What if it doesn’t happen”
“He never explicitly said he’ll do it”
“He can do whatever he wants and he may not want to do this”
Thoughts transforming into weights
My mind attempting to protect me in the familiarity of captivity
Versus allowing me to explore the unknowns of freedom
To believe is to be vulnerable
To jump down the canyon of the unknown trusting that he’ll catch me and hold me in his arms
To believe is to trust
To believe is to fall and know you’ll fly
To believe is to write and know it’ll be read
To believe is to speak and know it’ll be heard
To believe is to be hurt by the discomfort of freedom but still ride it’s wave
